I work at a library and one of the best things about my job is sorting the donated books. Quite often someone will be cleaning house and just can't bear to throw books away, no matter what condition they are in. 90% of the time the books can be added to our catalog or sold to help us buy more books, but sometimes they are just in too bad of shape. I hate to see the beautiful illustrations in these books being lost, so I have "rescued" them by scanning them and uploading them to the internet. My hope is that their beautiful artwork will inspire someone to do something creative. Click on the title of the set to go to my online album.
This is the crown jewel of my set of illustrations! A 1964 Barbie cookbook that was too grease-stained to keep for myself. I have a soft-spot for vintage illustrations from the 1950s and 1960s. Something about that idealized family life that you see in them. Today Barbie can be anything, but in 1964 she wanted to teach little girls to cook and bake. I LOVE IT!
